The Friends of Stewart House were founded seventy years ago and presently have members of fifty to sixty years' standing. This dedicated group's sole function is to support Stewart House in a practical and financial way.

To raise much needed funds, social activities are arranged. Last year The Friends of Stewart House presented Stewart House with their yearly donation of $2,000 in May and $35,000 for the provision of a bus in December. This clearly demonstrates the enormous generosity and commitment of their members.

Monthly activities are always well attended. Visits were made to the Museum of Australia Currency Notes a behind-the-scenes tour of Sydney Town Hall, a Matilda Cruise on Sydney Harbour and a tour of the facilities at the Children's Hospital, Westmead.

In addition to fund raising activities, The Friends support Stewart House through their sewing group which is always open to new members. They meet four times a year to make items required by Stewart House. One focus this year was new curtains for the junior bathrooms. These have been made, hung and greatly admired. Many members sew at home to support this group.
