We need help with the following projects:
Gardening/Grounds Maintenance
This is an ongoing project. We need volunteers to help during office hours with general ground maintenance. This includes lawn mowing, clearing of gardens and planting new plants.
Administration
Administration volunteers help in the Stewart House office during office hours. Some previous office experience would be handy. We need assistance with the following:
- Packing Dolphin orders-1st June 2007
- Help with opening envelopes for Donation Drive-30/31st August 2007
- Packing Christmas Card orders-23-26th November 2007
- Various mail outs through out the year
Fundraising Events
Fundraising volunteers provide invaluable help for Stewart House. This can include selling dolphins or Christmas cards at your work or in a public place or hosting a Blue for Stew morning tea.
Professional Expertise
Many Stewart House supporters have a wealth of knowledge and expertise that can benefit Stewart House. If you have professional skills, anything from graphic designer to tradesperson and you are willing to share some of your skills pro-bono, Please fill in the form below

Did you know who had the idea to start Stewart House in 1929?
Dr Harvey Sutton, then Principal Medical Officer of the Department of Education of NSW and Mr Arthur McGuiness, President of the NSW Teachers Federation. These men truly had vision in 1929!
In 1939 Mr. McGuinness became chairman of the managing committee. At this point it was realised that it could continue to serve children in need of help only if strong bonds were forged linking the Preventorium with public schools, children and teachers.
And so this strong association with all DET employees, students and retired teachers has continued. However whilst over 8,000 DET employees salary contribute there has been a drop of $250,000 in school donations in the last year or so.
Please encourage the newer teachers to get involved.
