The Stewart House Program provides access to free health, dental, optical and audiological care, emotional support, and essential items such as clothing and toiletries in a safe, nurturing environment.
The NSW Department of Education operates an onsite School for Specific Purpose (SSP) for students during school hours, providing infrastructure and staffing support. All other costs, including accommodation, meals, transport, recreation activities, and staff salaries, are met by Stewart House through targeted fundraising and donations.
Each child’s 12-day stay costs around $2,000 to provide, but there is no fee to carers for children to attend. Only 8% of funding comes from government sources, with the remainder raised through donations and fundraising.
Stewart House relies on community support to meet annual operating costs of around $5 million each year.
