Term 1 2026

95 Years Supporting Public School Children

For 95 years, Stewart House has proudly supported public school children, creating a nurturing environment focused on care, connection and positive experiences that build confidence. From our early days caring for children affected by malnutrition and hardship during the Great Depression, we’ve grown alongside changes in education, health, and community support. Today, we continue to respond to the challenges facing children from all parts of NSW and the ACT, including metropolitan, regional, and remote areas.

The Stewart House Program combines school and residential experiences, guided by our Wellbeing Framework, delivering health services and wellbeing programs that make a real difference in their lives, made possible through the generosity of our supporters who keep these services free.

This is what that impact looks like for a child in our care:

“I felt safe. The staff took care of me. I completed all my goals, and I learnt at least one helpful thing. I love Stewart House a lot and I want to come back and stay.”

With a tax-deductible donation or a valued in-kind contribution, you can make a real difference for public school children across NSW and the ACT. Thank you for helping us continue this important work.

Term 1 2026, Program Highlights

What a fantastic start to the year! Term 1 at Stewart House is over and our students enjoyed enriching programs, fun activities, and plenty of opportunities to build confidence and friendships.

We welcomed children from across NSW, including Maitland, Blacktown, Tamworth, Wagga Wagga, Moree, Ryde, Griffith, Bathurst, and Orange.

Highlights included students from very remote communities, such as the First Nations community of Toomelah, north of Moree near the Queensland border, with a population of around 200. During their stay, students were supported by our capable and dedicated school and residential staff, with additional support arranged as a pilot program to better assist First Nations children, who make up around 40% of our cohort. This included an Aboriginal Education Officer from Moree and a staff member from Toomelah Public School.

Thanks to some special community supporters…
