Term 1 2024 Program Highlights
Children in the care of Stewart House attend a specific purpose school onsite for 10 days of their 12-day stay. Term 2 at our Stewart House School was special, filled with educational adventures, personal growth, and unforgettable experiences. Darling Harbour was a standout excursion, where students visited Sea Life Sydney Aquarium and Madame Tussauds wax museum. The aquarium’s underwater wonders were mesmerising, and the lifelike wax figures of Spider-Man, Queen Elizabeth II, and Taylor Swift at the museum captured students’ imaginations.
A highlight has been the annual whale migration, viewed from classroom balconies and frequent dolphin sightings. This unique natural spectacle added to the students’ experience.
The activities promote self-awareness, with lessons helping students understand their strengths, feelings, thoughts, and actions. This fosters self-understanding and empathy. The creative projects and discussions enhanced their emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills.
Overall, Term 2 has been a wonderful blend of fun, learning, and natural wonders, making it a memorable and enriching time for all students.

Case Study: The impact of a stay at Stewart House can extend far into the future
From a student in need to a member of staff with a deep and personal understanding of the value of the Stewart House Program…
Rhiannon came from a significantly dysfunctional household. She had been removed from her maternal mother and was in kinship care with her maternal aunt.
Her journey at Stewart House began in 2012. At just 11 years old, the experience instilled hope and ambition within Rhiannon, sparking a determination for a brighter future with a unique objective: to one day return and work at Stewart House. This goal propelled her towards acquiring the necessary qualifications, skills, and expertise to positively impact the lives of children facing similar adversities.
After years of dedication, Rhiannon achieved her lifelong dream of becoming a Stewart House Residential Supervisor. For her, this meant extending a helping hand to children who, much like herself, carried the weight of the world on their shoulders, reassuring them that they were not alone and that there was hope for a better tomorrow.
Rhiannon: “When I speak to the children, it’s always in my mind that they might remember this comment for the rest of their lives.”
Rhiannon works purposefully to inspire children to reach for the stars, reinforcing that their destiny is in their hands.
